Job Registration Requirement for Employers as of 1 July 2018

Four years ago, the Swiss people approved the mass immigration initiative. The act for implementing the new article of the constitution was passed last year by the parliament and will be implemented by the cantons as of 1 July 2018.

The job registration requirement for employers will come into force on 1 July 2018. It only applies to specific occupational groups with an unemployment rate of 8% and higher. As of 1 January 2020, the threshold value will be 5% and higher.

The SECO (State Secretariat for Economic Affairs) publishes a list of the occupational groups subject to the job registration requirement. An updated list can be found at »www.arbeit.swiss. The respective occupational groups are subject to a five-day publication ban. This should give the jobseekers registered at the RAV (regional job centre) an edge. Three working days after registration of the job, the RAV will inform the employers about potential candidates. Updated information may be found under the following link:
